Unless the mate is a cat or a dog there is no excuse for their behaviour and even then they would be pushing their luck. My guess is that your partner is not the one cleaning up after your filthy visitor. I’m sure it will cause an ugly scene but my advice is to say something. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask someone to eat at the table or invite them to use the bathroom if they want to clean their feet.
