| In a meeting caverta benefits In 1977, I bought my first house. The realtors tried to talk me into getting a house 3 times more expensive. I was able to make the mortgage payments because I never spent more than I felt comfortable paying. When I sold the house 14 years later, I sold it a few thousand dollars below the market rate to sell it quick. A week later I bought 21 acres of land and negotiated payments about the same as my former house payment and for a shorter term. I haven't had a mortgage in 13 years as a resut and I'm still a long way away from retirement.
